In a compelling interview conducted by VPM’s Phil Liles and Kelley Libby, Fletcher Johnson, the Executive Director of LVS, shares the challenges veterans face and how LVS is making a difference.
Johnson discusses how veterans often come to LVS with complex issues, including substance abuse, mental health struggles, and post-traumatic stress disorder. LVS provides not only transitional housing but also essential support to help veterans overcome these barriers. Over the past decade, LVS has successfully housed an average of 35 to 36 veterans each year, achieving an impressive 86% success rate.
The interview also highlights the importance of community support. Johnson speaks about the ongoing need for donations of essential items and the invaluable role of volunteers in helping LVS continue its mission.
